Turkey: 27 killed in blast near Syrian border

At least 27 people were killed and nearly 100 hospitalized in an explosion Monday in the Turkish town of Suruc on the Syrian border, Turkey’s Interior Ministry reported.

“The death toll is feared to rise,” the Turkish news agency Anadolu reported, calling the blast a “terror attack that targeted our country’s unity and integrity”.

Anadolu said almost 100 people were under treatment at Suruc and Sanliurfa state hospitals.

A team of experts has been sent to Suruc, neighboring the Syrian town of Kobani, and security forces have taken measures around the area, the ministry said in a statement.
